Researchers Discover Breast Cancer Obesity Link
Ongoing research now clearly shows there is a breast cancer obesity link in older women. Smoking and alcohol intake are also shown to play a significant role in breast cancer statistics.
In the UK, twelve percent of women develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Many of these cases relate to hormone sensitivity, where increased levels of estrogen and testosterone in post-menopausal women increase the risk by a factor of two to three.
Age and family history are also factors in determining the likelihood of developing breast cancer, but it is the high levels of these hormones that increases that risk.
The Breast Cancer Obesity Link
The higher levels of these hormones found in the stored fat of overweight women plays an important role and research now indicates that the risk of developing breast cancer increase significantly when the BMI of women increases above 25. In a single generation overall rates of cancer development have increased by twenty five percent, but this increase rises to forty percent over the same period regarding breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Obesity and Junk Food
The types of foodstuffs generally consumed in the modern lifestyle adopted by so many these days, is leading to a general increase in both BMI and stored brown fat. We are eating far too much over-processed “convenience” foods and failing to eat sufficient vegetables and high fiber foods that will help us to maintain a healthier weight and to reduce the levels of stored fats and body toxins.
By changing your lifestyle a little, preparing more meals from fresh natural ingredients it is possible to lower the risk of developing many types of cancers including breast cancer. By eating better food, consuming less alcohol and stopping smoking it is possible to increase the chances of living cancer free, well into old age and significantly reduce the breast cancer obesity risk.
